What does CCU believe?
Curtin Christian Union is affiliated with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). AFES oversees more than 50 university campus groups, such as CCU, around Australia. AFES is a part of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). Both AFES and IFES have a Doctrinal Basis (or simply a summary of what they believe) which all groups under their jurisdiction must adhere to.
At CCU, not only to we adhere to the doctrinal basis of the AFES and IFES, we have also adopted it as our own.
At CCU, we believe:
- The divine inspiration and infallibility of the Holy Scripture as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spririt in the Godhead.
- The universal sinfulness and guilt of humans rendering us subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
- The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and his birth of the virgin Mary.
- Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
- The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
- The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting them repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
- The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
- The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
